2018 Celebration of the Hispanic Heritage honoring Puerto Rico

On Saturday, October 13, 2018, the Latino Ministers of New Jersey for Justice will celebrate and honor the work and contribution of community members and organizations that helped the cause of Socorro during the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Maria in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. On this day we will honor small donors (who contributed cans of beans to small amounts of cash), grassroots community organizations, religious, governmental and corporate donors, as well as people who put their boots on the ground in Puerto Rico after the disaster.

This event is sponsored by the Latino Ministers of New Jersey for Justice and co-sponsored by the Center for Empowerment and Community Development of New Jersey with the participation of the Latino Leadership Alliance of New Jersey (LLANJ), Berkley College, Radio Vision Christiana International and others with musical groups among them Images Christian director Rev. Benny Feliciano, and others also delicious authentic food of Puerto Rico.

Honors include: Congress of Boricua Mrs. Lidia Valencia, Mrs. Janet Chevrez de Chase Bank, Mrs. Carmen Vega, President of Puerto Rican Parade Pass, Hon. Abraham Lopez, former Director of Hispanic Center and Faith Based Affair, Hon. Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno, ICAP – Church of Jersey, US Methodist Church UU Radio Visión Cristiana Internacional Rev. Dr. Héctor Atilio Chiesa, WAPA TV. Puerto Rico, among others. There are so many people who helped; We will honor 15 Citizens this day. We will also have Puerto Rican brothers who suffered the hurricane as a testimony of the relief efforts and updated report by the Federal Government and Puerto Rico. .

This event will be in celebration and jubilee during Hispanic Heritage Month. It will take place at José Martí Intermediate School, 1800 Central Avenue, Union City, New Jersey, at 7:00 p.m. M. With the doors open at 6:30 p.m.

We will honor dignitaries, members of the community, as well as corporate and religious organizations. Above all, it is a time to highlight the work that others did to alleviate the pain and suffering after Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. We will be at the same time creating awareness that thanks in advance for your kind consideration to participate
