Elisa Charters

Ms. Elisa Charters, former Treasurer of LLANJ (2005-2008) and LLANJ Fundraising Chair (2008 Gala), was born and raised in Passaic, New Jersey; she is currently a resident of Cedar Grove, New Jersey. The Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders appointed Mrs. Charters as a member of the Essex County Planning Board. Ms. Charters is a graduate of NJIT, New York University and Columbia University with advanced degrees in Environmental Studies, Real Estate Finance and International Finance and Business, respectively.

Ms. Charters recently departed from her professional life serving the public at large for 15 years at the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey where she acted in various financial capacities. She faced her most challenging responsibilities managing acquisitions and operations of the World Trade Center Redevelopment effort at Ground Zero; and as the General Manager of Finance for the various Port Commerce businesses of the bi-state region. In October 2006, the Port Authority Hispanic Society awarded Ms. Charters for “Outstanding Services and Leadership” during her tenure at the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. Mrs. Charters’ current focus is caring for her family at home including her two young children, Remy and Lucian.

Ms. Charters continues to be professionally active by volunteering her time to various public boards and not-for-profit organizations including the Junior League of Montclair/Newark, where she is committed to working with her peers to promote volunteerism and to significantly improve the lives of children at risk in her community, and the State of New Jersey’s Advisory Council for Minority and Women-Owned Businesses. Ms. Charters has been happily married to her college sweetheart, Mr. Brian Douglas Charters, for 13 years.
