Hector Ramos
Detective Sergeant Héctor Ramos was born in Lares, Puerto Rico, and is one of three siblings.
Ramos holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Montclair State University, majoring in Political Science and Communication Studies. He has also procured a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management from Seton Hall University and is a member of the National Honor Society Kappa Delta Pi. In 1987 he joined the New Jersey State Police starting in the traffic division where he discovered that this elite group of law enforcement officers not only provided a challenge, but also a vehicle to reach his goal of serving the community. He was assigned to various assignments including the Narcotics Division and the Essex Anti Crime Partnerships Unit where he has been able to combine his law enforcement skills with his love for the community. Ramos has been a spokesperson for the New Jersey State Police for Latino Issues. As a State Trooper he has been very successful facilitating partnerships among non-profits, private industry, and the law enforcement community. He has served as a liaison between the New Jersey State Police and the Latino community. He has been able to accomplish this with his professionalism and enthusiasm.
He is also the President of the NJ Latino Peace Officers Association, a chapter of the National Latino Peace Officers Association; where he chairs the Scholarship Committee that provides scholarships to qualified high school students that want to pursue a career in law enforcement. He also chairs the Fundraising Committee. Detective Sergeant First Class Ramos is involved in various activities throughout the Latino community in New Jersey ranging from gang prevention programs, coat drives, and fundraising for scholarships.
Ramos has received numerous awards and recognition from community organizations, local government, private corporations and commendations from the New Jersey State Police where he works in the Office of the Deputy Superintendent of Investigations.
